Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) in Vadodara has signed an MoU with European aviation giant Airbus to develop the aerospace ecosystem in India.
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the commencement of the first B-Tech (Aviation) course, a collaboration between GSV and Airbus.
The inaugural batch consists of 40 students, with Airbus covering the entire tuition and lodging expenses amounting to Rs 2.5 lakh per annum per student through scholarships.
Students will receive training and internships at Airbus factories and facilities, gaining practical skills and industry insights.
The collaboration aims to generate a skilled workforce for India’s aviation sector, aligning with the Modi government’s vision of integrated and holistic infrastructure development.
The industry-academia partnership will create a dedicated workforce for the transport sector, with graduates becoming an indispensable force in the future.
Airbus will establish a Centre of Excellence at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, projected to generate around 15,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the aviation sector.
GSV, established in 2018 in Vadodara, Gujarat, aims to nurture a dedicated workforce for various transportation sectors, including railways, highways, waterways, shipping, ports, and aviation.
The university’s mission is to produce industry-ready graduates to support India’s expanding transport and logistics sector.
The GSV-Airbus collaboration represents a significant step in enhancing the aerospace ecosystem in India, providing substantial educational and employment opportunities.
This initiative will foster a skilled workforce and establish a Centre of Excellence, driving innovation and sustainability in the industry.
